Panna Cotta

Cooked cream doesn’t sound too appealing but it you say it in a foreign more romantic language it’s going to have mouths watering. Panna Cotta can look as elegant as it is simple to make, and you can throw it together well ahead of time with ingredients you probably already have around the house. Past the break I’ve included a basic recipe which can be modified to include your favourite flavours.

Ingredients

  • 250ml Cream
  • 250ml Milk
  • 1/4 Cup of Sugar
  • 2tsp of Gelatine

Method

  • Sprinkle the gelatine over the milk and mix well
  • Combine the cream and sugar in a pan and bring up to the boil.
  • Remove from heat
  • Add the milk to the cream and mix it in.
  • Put back on the heat and stir for a while, make sure the gelatine is fully dissolved.
  • Remove from the heat
  • Cool over ice until it starts to thicken and feels cool.
  • Pour into moulds.
  • Refrigerate for a few hours, can be made the day before.

Variations

You can add pretty much any flavour you want. Vanilla, chocolate, orange, lemon, berries, or even bay leaves.
